I love this shot for a couple of reasons. The main one is that it was taken here on the Gold Coast at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat. I was hosting the fabulous @samhorine on his first trip to Australia and we were having too much fun for it to be work. When the birds came out I immediately knew that I wanted an owl portrait and I persisted with the bird and the handler until I got what I wanted. It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed the incredible catch lights in the bird’s eyes, the rays of light behind him and the cool corner of bokeh.
